MY METHOD
My method is as my business name implies: "Mary Talks with Horses". I don't claim to be a "Horse Whisperer". I do utilize a unique style of "Natural Horsemanship" skills similar to the methods of Ray Hunt, Tom Dorrance, Richard Shrake and Sally Swift. I make no promises of "first day ride" or "30 day finish" - the horse determines how fast, or how slow, the training progresses. I learned long ago that the best finished horse has been brought along at his/her own speed and with gentle discipline. Overly harsh methods have no place in my training regimen. The national resurgence of "Natural Horsemanship" proves my time-tested method is sound.
Trainees live and work in a natural setting at my modest farm, “Mary’s Prairie.” My intentions are your horse be exposed to as many situations as our time together allows, receives daily handling and interaction, and is returned to you sane and experienced. Your horse will be provided quality feed and/or forage based upon its individual needs. Additional supplementation requirements will be discussed prior to training commencing.
Because of the time it takes to "properly" train a horse, I take a limited number of training horses. You get me training your horse, not an associate nor an apprentice; you are paying for my expertise - that is what you will be getting. I am honest in my dealings and expect the same from the owner. I don't "sugar coat" a horse's abilities and expect to hear about any "issues" your horse has prior to the start of training. Together, we will identify your goals and work towards achieving them.
